United Zou Organisation is the apex body of the Zou Tribe in India. Established on May 23, 1954 as Jou National Congress. It was renamed as United Manipur Jou Organization (UMJO) on May 4, 1955, later rechristened as United Zomi Organization in the 1960-61 Session and again changed to United Zou Organisation in the year 2007 with the purpose of accommodating all the Zo cognate tribes under the Zomi nomenclature platform.
This brief history of UZO covers upto the celebration of its Golden Jubilee since its inception.
